The handle is made from 0.875" thick tubular steel, and the body is made from 1.25" tubular steel. The axle is also made from steel. The black powder coat finish is very durable, and helps protect against the elements.

The shovel blade is made for injection molded co-polymer. This was used instead of steel to prevent scraping or otherwise damaging pavement. The heavy-duty plastic blade also offers reduced weight and strain.
