This Worm Cafe compost bin
easily turns organic waste to worm tea and worm castings, is really easy to use, and has some great features that make it unique from other vermicompost bins. The first notable feature is that it
comes specifically with a worm farm bedding block, so you don't have to worry about lining your worm cafe with newspaper bedding. The worm bedding block is made from coir, which is also known as coco pith and is made from coconut fiber. This material is also an eco friendly alternative to peat moss and is good for the environment. It makes an excellent bed for worm compost bins, and will not harm the worms in any way.
Additionally, you don't need to worry if you run out of coco fiber. We have a
Coconut Fiber Brick available to make sure you've always got a fresh supply.
Another great feature about this worm bin is that it features a
hinged lid that enables you to open and fill your worm farm with ease. It also showcases a sloping base for easy drainage of your worm tea. The trays of this bin are all
side ventilated, which allows air to flow in all weather conditions -- so you don't have to worry about the rain ruining your progress and drowning all your worms. There's also cross ventilation, which ensures your worm tea stays like it should, without turning anaerobic. Fly proof lids and legs with ant caps will also ensure your bin is safe from pests.
Not the worm composter you’re looking for? Check out the Can O Worms Round Vermicomposter! The way it works is simple. Just set up your worm farm somewhere outside (typically close to the kitchen so you don't have to worry about walking long distances to deposit your food scraps). Make sure it's not in an area that is subject to a lot of heat and direct sunlight constantly, as too much heat can kill your worms and stunt compost time. Place your worm bedding down in the trays (this is included with the worm bin, see below), and start to add compost. After that, it's all up to the worms, which will progressively break down the organic waste until you are left with rich fertile worm castings and tea, which are considered by many master gardeners to be some of the best compost around.
