Spinosad is a newer completely organic insecticide which is registered by the EPA to control a variety of insects including:
Mosquitoes, Fire Ants, Flies, Tomato Hornworms, Beetles, Worms, Fleas, Lice, Leafminers, Thrips, Spider Mites, Web Worms, and other Caterpillars.Spinosad is derived from the fermentation juices of a
naturally occuring soil bacterium called Saccharopolyspora spinosa.
This organic insect repellent keeps the bugs away from your yard and keeps your children and animals safe from harmful pesticides. Safe for them to go outside as soon as it dries!
Spinosad does not significantly effect beneficial organisms including ladybugs, green lacewings, minute pirate bugs, and predatory mites.
It is toxic to bees, but only for the first three hours after it has been sprayed. Avoid spraying it on nectar or pollen producing plants, and this will prevent any bees from being harmed.
If you live on a lake, pond or creek, you don't want to use a Spinosad based product, because it is also toxic to aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply it directly to water.
Attach the bottle to your hose, and spray it on the lawn. Each bottle treats up to 5,000 square feet, so you can treat an entire yard or use it a little bit at a time on smaller areas. Time application to early morning or late evening to minimize the potential for leaf burn. Read directions before use.
For application, spray uniformly on to plant foliage until it starts to run off. The best time to apply this product is early mornings or late evenings to minimize potential leaf burning. Do not use more than 3 gallons per 1,000 sq. ft. area for vegetable gardens.
