This is my first experience composting with a ’device’ - always just used a pile. I was excited to find my husband and I put this one together in less than 30 minutes. It has become my favorite ’toy’ EVER. It made perfect compost in just three weeks at the height of summer heat using grass clippings, last fall’s leaves and kitchen scraps without any starter. I made five complete batches in the half season since I purchased it. I want another. It produces wonderful ’tea’ too - just put a flower pot bottom under it and voila!

Spin bin is a light duty tumbler because of the poor bearing point design. It is overpriced. Drum arrives in 4 pieces and must be bolted together. Be patient with assembly. Problem is that the shaft to bin bearing points are not adequately reinforced and they may tear out if the composing material is to heavy. My fix was to install a flat metal plate on either side of the pivot bar at the 2 bearing points. Plates were drilled for bolt holes that matched flange bolt spacing. Allowed for 2 bolts either side of bearing shaft. Standard bolts were replaced with longer bolts at plates. Spinbin works great now.

i have been attempting to compost in phoenix for years but I am never ambitious enough in the summer here to turn my pile in the heat, hence it tends to dry out. That is what made me so excited

I have other composters, but this is so much easier to use, especially when it comes to turning the compost. I was surprised at how small the shipping box was. Assembly was very easy and I started using it right away.

I love the design and ease of use. The only concern I have is that some smaller items fell through the air vent openings, but not enough to cause major problems with animals.

I would recommend this compost bin. Very easy to assemble. Easily spins to stir the compost up. I love it.

I recommend the product because it was easy to assemble and resulted in a heavy-duty compost bin. The lids stay secure to keep animals and pests away. It is very easy to spin, even when relatively full.

easy to use, don’t need a lot of space, very well built, keeps larger animals from routing in the compost.

This is easy to assemble. Instructions are embossed on the inside of the lid as to what you should compost.Put your kitchen waste, leaves, etc. in and give it a spin!

A bit tedious to put together. Arrives in quarter sections all to be fastened together. Power drill comes in mighty handy w/ 30-odd screws to fasten!

I really like the design of the SpinBin. The footprint is smaller than many of the others, and fits easier in small places. The SpinBin was VERY easy to put together. I was able to do this by myself, and it didn’t take very long to do.

Haven’t had it long but looks like it will do a good job. Easy to tumble. Easy to add compost material.

I just received the spin bin. It was a little difficult to put together by myself as the screw holes did not line up well. It took me about 45 minutes with a power screw driver and 11mm crescent wrench. The "feet" fall off, they may need time put together to hold on, but a latch would be better design. It was ok to move while empty. I received no written instructions, just a double sided page of identical instructions. I went to the web site and watched the videos. There are no instructions for what to fill with first to set it up as there were with my previous compost unit. My other unit is automatic, it turns itself! There is nothing to collect the drippings, which could be messy and you loose it.

Since I have only used this for a brief time I can only say that the durability and effectiveness are good. I do think that over time I would be able to rate them excellent.

A decent design and a good price, but construction should have been sturdier. I have two Spin Bins I’ve been using for 7 months. My biggest complaint is that when the load inside gets heavy -- when the bin is 1/2 to 2/3 full, the plastic lid on the bottom side will often pop off and dump the load on the ground. The plastic flange that attaches the lid is really not strong enough for what it’s meant to do. So then I have to pick the lid and fallen load up and stuff it back in -- yuck. It is also somewhat hard to unload the finished compost, because the bin is too low to get a wheelbarrow under it. That said, the price is hard to beat, and it composts well.
