This is my first experience composting with a ’device’ - always just used a pile. I was excited to find my husband and I put this one together in less than 30 minutes. It has become my favorite ’toy’ EVER. It made perfect compost in just three weeks at the height of summer heat using grass clippings, last fall’s leaves and kitchen scraps without any starter. I made five complete batches in the half season since I purchased it. I want another. It produces wonderful ’tea’ too - just put a flower pot bottom under it and voila!

Spin bin is a light duty tumbler because of the poor bearing point design. It is overpriced. Drum arrives in 4 pieces and must be bolted together. Be patient with assembly. Problem is that the shaft to bin bearing points are not adequately reinforced and they may tear out if the composing material is to heavy. My fix was to install a flat metal plate on either side of the pivot bar at the 2 bearing points. Plates were drilled for bolt holes that matched flange bolt spacing. Allowed for 2 bolts either side of bearing shaft. Standard bolts were replaced with longer bolts at plates. Spinbin works great now.
