The Tumbleweed was Member Tested and Recommended by the National Home Gardening Club.

Made from 100% recycled plastic, this patented Tumbleweed Compost bin has a patented vertical tumbling action. It is designed with a stainless steel rod that runs through the middle, creating an aerobic composting action that makes turning organic materials into rich, organic compost a quick and odorless job. It also sits on sturdy, galvanized tubular steel legs that won't rust, and when available, the steel in these legs is made with recycled metal (varies between 17 and 20 percent).

The Tumbleweed Compost Tumbler was instantly one ofour favorite compost tumblers, and now that we have one made from 100% recycled plastic, we love this line even more! Just like the other Tumbleweed compost tumbler, will take you about 10 or 15 minutes to fully assemble it, using only your hands and a pocket screwdriver.

Make sure you get the best composter for your needs by reading our helpful article, Composter Reviews: Lars's Quick Picks .

With this tumbling compost bin, it is so easy to get started once you've assembled it. All that is required is to throw in some material to the compost bin and give it a spin, and that's it! Once the composter is full and starts to get heavy, simply pushing down on one end of the Tumbleweed sends the other end up, allowing you to spin the bin easily with little effort.

We were impressed with the way the stainless steel rod through the center helped quickly break down the material in the composter with just a few turns, improving the already good compost tumbling action.

Many people prefer tumbling composters because the design makes it easy to keep the compost turned and aerated. A well-aerated bin helps break down materials into ready compost faster.

A daily spin will produce earthy dark brown compost in as few as 21 days. Your specific composting time depends on your mix of materials, moisture of the compost, weather, etc. For the best results, we suggest using 75% dry ingredients (leaves, grass clippings, shredded newspaper) and 25% moist waste (vegetable scraps, dead flowers, etc). The composter will work with any blend of organic materials, but it may take longer to complete the process.

The tumbling composter comes with complete instructions on how to make compost.

The composter has two animal-resistant twist lock vented lids at either end that allow for easy filling and emptying of the bin while producing maximum aeration.

Constructed of a heavy duty UV-protected polypropylene plastic, the assembled bin stands 46" high, 26" wide, 34" deep. It has a 58 gallon capacity (holds 7 to 8 cubic feet, or approximately 6.2 bushels) and weighs just 22 lbs.
