A compact fluorescent bulb is a perfect choice for a porch light that you typically leave burning for hours at a time, because that's when you'll see the greatest amount of overall energy savings.
At just 13 watts, this fluorescent yellow bug light bulb gives just as much light (500 lumens), but uses only 13 percent of the energy as a 100 watt incandescent yellow bug light. It only uses 25 percent as much energy as a 60 watt incandescent bulb.
