I bought a Flowtron Leaf Eater late this past summer and used it all autumn.
In past years, I’ve raked and bagged my leaves and had them picked up with the garbage. Then, in early spring, I’ve spent a pile of money on mulch for my flower beds.
This year it occurred to me that I should save money and reduce waste by mulching the leaves and put them on my flower beds.
I did and it worked great. The Flowtron is loud, so I wore ear plugs when I used it. If the leaves are dry, it also kicks up a storm of dust, so don’t wear your Sunday best. The cord that does the cutting is easy to replace and it’s not hard to find replacements when the supply that comes with the unit runs out. The appropriate size string trimmer line, when cut to size, works perfectly.

Wow what a great product to have in your garden,I got won a while back from a friend and yes it is very loud but it works really good. I ran 36 bags of leaves through this shredder last year(2007) and I had the very best compost i ever had. It pays to run them through the top slowly or they don’t break down as fine.Thats the only draw back other then not finding this product in any store her in Austin,Texas.

I have a very shady yard, with tons of trees....and leaves. I can’t believe how many I’ve wasted over the years until I got this leaf shredder last fall.
It’s fast and easy to use. And there was a noticeable difference this spring in the garden beds that I mulched with shredded leaves last year vs. those I didn’t.
It does kick up some dust, so I have to remember to wear glasses or sunglasses when I use it, or you could use safety goggles.
My husband was originally skeptical when I bought this, but now he’s thrilled, because he doesn’t have to blow leaves around the shrubs and into the woods any more.

I am very happy with the leaf shredder! Easy to put together and easy to use. You get all that leaf mulch and don’t have to drag tarp-loads of leaves into the woods! It’s a win win win
