Check out the small bat house photo on this page, that shows bats roosting inside. Click on it to see it in detail!
Unlike many bat houses that are simply made to look pretty to the owner, this bat house is actually designed with bats in mind. Why would you want bats to move in? Because they consume large quantities of insects such as mosquitos, grasshoppers, moths, flies, crickets, gnats and fruit flies while you sleep. A single brown bat can eat up to 600 mosquitoes in one hour!
The bat house will get best results if it is located 15 to 20 feet off the ground, facing the southeast. You can mount a bat house under the eaves of your house, provided it is high enough off the ground, or high in a tree or from a pole.

Ready to Hang! This large rustic bat house is hand made of western red cedar beveled siding and OSB board. The three roosting chambers are 3/4" to 1" wide as recommended by Organization for Bat Conservation. This design will allow bats to enter but will deter predators such as squirrels and wasps from building nests. Front and side ventilation slots allow the bat colony to breath and help control temperature variations. The inside chambers and large landing area at the bottom, comes with a plastic mesh. The mesh gives the bats something to cling to and helps them hold on easier. The standard model measures 14" x 5" x 24" and will hold up to 300 bats. An Extra Large model is also available that measures 21" x 7" x 24", has 5 chambers, and can hold twice as many bats (up to 600!). If you'd like to order the Extra-Large size, please make your selection at the top of the page. Each house is custom made by hand, so please bear in mind that it takes approximately 2 weeks for these orders to arrive.
