The Clyde Planting Chart is an easy way to choose the date to sow seeds in your garden or move seedlings to your vegetable patch. This adjustable chart is good for all areas of the country - it has a sliding adjuster that takes into account the climate in your area based on the date of the last frost. The front of the chart has spring planting times, and the back has a fall schedule.

Planting at the right time will yield the largest, healthiest vegetables. Plants will instinctively grow to match the seasons, and planting them at the right time will increase germination rates and prevent loss to insects.

This planting chart is more useful than a farmer's almanac - it has information for indoor and outdoor plantings. The slide portion also includes the number of seeds or plants required to make a 10 foot row, the target planting depth, recommended distance between rows, and the suggested distance between plants after thinning.

The guideline sheet is made in the United States and includes planting dates for many common vegetables, including onion sets, peas, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, radish, turnips, beets, potatoes, broccoli, lettuce leaf, carrots, chard, green bean bushes, sweet corn, summer squash, cucumbers, melons, peppers, tomatoes, and okra.

The guidelines can also be used for related plants (for example, gourds can be planted at the same time as pumpkins and quinoa can be planted at about the same time as chard). The back of the chart also has an easy guide to computing the first and last days of spring frost in your area.

I got this chart while at a seed festival in MO. I used it last year, but can’t vouch for its accuracy. It is easy to use and complete enough to be useful too.
