Fiskars has taken a completely fresh look at how to approach the design of a reel mower, and they came up with something unique and different. Most reel mowers throw grass behind the mower, but Fiskars decided to design a front throwing reel mower instead.

They have also broken new ground with the tallest maximum cutting height we've ever seen for a reel mower, 4 inches. We don't know if you'll actually want to keep your grass that high, but if you can! The mower has an 18 inch cutting width.

The Fiskars reel mower uses a large diameter cutting reel and heavy blades. The blades are powered by a chain and chainring, sort of like a bicycle. The chain and gearing of the mower can deliver twice the energy needed to power through your lawn. This makes the mower easier to push, even through thicker grass. In fact, according to Fiskars, this mower reduces push force by about 30 percent when used in long grass.

The Fiskars Momentum manual reel mower also features a silent cut design, where the cutting reel and the stationary blade are set 0.003 inches apart, so the cutting reel and stationary blade narrowly avoid making contact with one another. That's less than the thickness of a blade of grass! This means there's less wear and tear on the mower blades because there is no metal-on-metal contact of the blade against the cutter bar. This results in longer blade life and easier maintenance.

This reel mower is also better at mowing edges than most other reel mowers, which have thick wheels on both ends of the blades. The unique Fiskars mower design means that it mows edges up to three times closer than other reel mowers, and uncut strips of grass are never left underneath either wheel.

The Fiskars mower is also very ergonomically sound. It's designed with comfort in mind.
