The red wigglers are normally smaller than night crawlers or regular earthworms. But, they are heavy eaters. Their bedding (from what we feed our worms) is Aged digested castings from clean screened dairy manure. Approximately 1000 worms per pound. Each order is for two pounds. This would make each order contain approximately 2000 worms. Worm composting is a process that uses red earthworms, also commonly called redworms, to consume organic waste, producing castings (an odor-free compost product for use as mulch), soil conditioner, and topsoil additive. Naturally occurring organisms, such as bacteria and millipedes, also assist in the aerobic degradation of the organic material.
