| | Compost tips: TroubleshootingLars answers a common question/complaint about composting: Q: I'm putting all my kitchen scraps into the compost bin, but it doesn't seem to be breaking down. Why? A: All of the kitchen scraps are really nitrogen rich. You need some carbon-rich materials in there to balance it out. The key to successful composting is a nice balance between carbon and nitrogen rich materials. The best thing to do is throw some leaves or maybe some shredded newspaper (if you don't have any leaves lying around), dried grass clippings, or something of the sort in there. Those materials are carbon rich, and that will really help to balance things out. The cool composter Lars is standing next to is the Tumbleweed Composter, and we think very highly of it!
