Compost Moisture Meter

One of the keys to a successful compost bin or pile is having the proper moisture of the compost. This compost moisture meter is the tool you need to make sure your compost bin is always working under optimal conditions.

Having too much water or too little water in your compost bin can be detrimental to the breaking down process of kitchen scraps, yard waste and other matter into organic material.

Easy to use, the 17" stem of the meter reaches deep into the compost pile (or even soil) to get a reading of the moisture levels. You can calibrate your own meter to get a relative 0-10 reading for your compost or lawn.

All you have to do is inset the probe straight into the compost and the moisture meter instantly shows you and accurate moisture level reading.

If your compost pile is too wet, the right amount of air is not able to get to the material, so the water actually creates an anaerobic breakdown process, which will make the process a lot longer. If your compost pile is too dry, simply soak it with a garden hose or watering can.

This compost moisture meter works in the soil, too! Use the moisture meter for sub-soil moisture mapping of your yard which helps in checking coverage and penetration of sprinkler systems. It is also useful when trying to locate leaking water lines, checking the effectiveness of septic tank leach lines, locating the depth of shallow water tables and even locating surface water springs.
