FAQ: The Brill vs. The Scotts Push Reel Mower
Quite often, we get calls and emails inquiring how the Brill and the Scotts Reel Mowers compare to each other. Truth be told, they are both excellent mowers and you cannot go wrong. However, there are certain factors (especially in regards to demographic area) that may help influence your decision.
The Scotts Classic Reel Mower:
The Scotts Classic Reel Mower is a better choice in the Southern Half of the US if you have St. Augustine, Bermuda, or Zoysia grass. A heavier mower such as the Scott's Classic will plow through the grass easier.
If you like to keep your grass a little higher, the Scotts is an excellent choice as well, because it has a maximum cutting height of 3 inches. It also has a 20 in. cutting width.
The Brill Reel Mower:
The Brill is ideal for the types of grasses commonly seen in the Northern half of the country. It also works quite well in the Southern half of the country, just not with the aforementioned grass above.
The cutting width on this mower is just under 16 inches.
The Brill is German engineered. The Germans are certainly known for their engineering and their fancy for great ergonomics.
