Biodegradable Bamboo Herb Planter Kit

This earth friendly pot is made from biodegradable bamboo. It is sustainably produced and chemical free, and makes a great house warming gift. It comes with everything you need to spice up a new house or apartment, and will grow wherever there's light and the right temperature.

Choose the plant that comes with your pot - select between Basil, Oregano, and Daisy using the dropdown menu at the top of this page. The Basil comes in a ruby red colored pot, the Oregano comes with a rust orange pot, and the Daisy comes in a buttercup yellow pot.

Each pot comes with a lied tied onto the top with a multicolored silk ribbon, soil, seeds, and an attached saucer to hold water at the bottom. The pots are 5.5 inches wide and 4 inches tall. When the seasons turn and your plants die, the pot can be used again - just replant it with fresh seeds or seedlings and start over.

You can grow flowers, vegetables, herbs or decorative plants in the pot, just as you would any other planter. It is not as permeable a peat or paper pot, and bamboo can stand up to water without getting soggy.

The bamboo flowerpot will last for several years without losing its shape or ability to hold soil. If it breaks or wears out, this sustainable planter can be composted to produce healthy soil. It does not bulge, bend, or tear.

When used indoors, the pots last around 3 years. They can also withstand 1-2 years of outdoor use. After the pot is placed in a composting pile or composter, it will break down in approximately 6 months.

The 5.5 inch diameter is a good size for small to medium houseplants. Or, you can use the pot to start seedlings before burying them in your yard. With this planter, it's easy to avoid transplant shock. Just bury the whole pot in the ground, and it will break down over time without stressing the roots of the plant.

Why use bamboo?
Wooden pots can be made from many different types of lumber, such as pine, cedar, and redwood. Yet bamboo is a better choice because it is fast growing and lightweight. Bamboo can grow amazingly fast - some species spread up to 39 inches in a single day.

Due to its rapid growth and availability, bamboo is a more sustainable material than wood from old growth forests. Bamboo is not in any danger of extinction, and using it instead of other woods allows the preservation of wildlife habitat.
