I bought this design rain barrel. After 12 months it bowed out and leaks. I tried to patch it, but no luck. I liked the design, but don’t buy this type of rain barrel.

I originally purchased this rain barrel from Clean Air Gardening a few years ago when they were first offered - the one I have is green. It worked very well for the first year but then I started getting problems with leaks where the valves join the small plastic nipples cemented into the barrel carcass. Those short adaptars eventually all failed (I still have the barrel and am looking for a solution). I believe the issue is one of material incompatibility - as the various plastics and resins expand/contract with weather the stress is too much for the connecting pieces, so they crack. I’m not sure if there’s a solution to the problem, but I’m very disappointed, as I recommended this same setup to several friends and neighbors, who are all beginning to experience the same issues.

I was very happy with my first one(green) bought the tan barrel and it was missing connecting pieces and has since bowed out. It doesn’t leak yet but I am worried it will start. Very inconvenient not having all the parts to connect it right out of the box. Had to make several trips to the hardware store.

After two years of use, two of the four rain barrels that I purchased have already been discarded. One split open at a seem on the lower half. The other leaks at the connection between the two halves.
Because of the poor design and quality of this product I do not recommend it. Many of these will just end up as more plastic in the land fills.

Installed 2 of these recently, and have had a few rains. No problems with hardware or accessories, but they do leak water around the seam where the 2 halves connect. I assume that’s because water pressure from the top half causes some overflow in the bottom half that leaks out the air gap. I’m considering sealing the 2 halves together with silicone, but then we could never take them apart if we had to move them again. Not a HUGE deal, but inconvenient.
